FINAL DAY

The last day gave a lot of excitement. Two players, Manuel Trappel from Austria and Steven Brown from England, ended up at 278 shots, -10. After checking the scores they had to go out and play a three hole playoff at the holes 18-1-18.

Manuel Trappel won by one shot and is The International European Champion of 2011.

DAY 3

Even though the weather conditions were changing a lot during the third day, the scores were  quite low. The average scores of the tournament: Day 1 = 73,12. Day 2 = 75,09, Day 3 = 73,69.
61 players made the cut (+4) and will play the final round.

It is the Austrian player, Manuel Trappel, who is in the lead (-8) with one stroke. He made 71 shots and is teeing off at 11:00 in the final round.

Chasing from one shot behind is the 20 year old Stiggy Hodgson from Sunningdale Golf Club in England. Hodgson lowest score ever is 61, that means that he is able to shoot low scores. He has also made 19 hole-in-ones and we hope that he will make his 20th in the final round – that means one per year.

The best Swedish players, Robert Karlsson and Niclas Carlsson, are four shots from the lead and hopefully they will give a good match to their fellow contestants in the final round.

Edouard Espana from France made 67 shots and that was the lowest score in the third round.

DAY 2

The wind of 6-9 meter/second made the course much harder and the scores higher the second round. The best score was 67 (with one bogey and one double bogey) by Daan Huizing from the Netherlands. He ended up at a total of -6 and a sixth place.

The leader of the first day, Steven Brown from England, keeps on playing well. He made 71 shots in the second round and is still in the lead by one stroke (total of -8). Four players ties the second place, Julien Brun and Gary Stal from France, George Thacker, England and Manuel Trappel from Austria.

The defending Champion, Lukas Bjerregard from Denmark, had an injury before he started the first round. He was trying to play, but after the second round he had to withdraw.

The cut will be made after the third round. It is 60 players and ties who will be playing the final round on Saturday.

You will find the scores and tee times in the links to the right.

DAY 1

The first day of the IEAC at Halmstad GC was very good. With one course record of 65 shots and 64 players with scores even par or lower, the Championship got a great start.

The best score of the first day, and also a new course record, is 65 shots. It was the English player Steven Brown, who had a very good day. He made one birdie on the front nine and six!! birdies on the back nine and ended up at a total of -6.

Brown is one shot ahead of Gary Stal from France, who made 66 shots and eight players tie the third place with three more shots (68).

The condition and set up of the course and the weather conditions was making the game quite easy on the first day. The forecast for the rest of the week is the normal conditions with the strong wind coming in from the ocean and maybe some light rain.
Adding some tougher pin placements the following days, will probably make sure that 65 shots will be the best score of the week…

A total of sixtyfour players scored 72 (even par) or lower and the scoring average for the first round was 73,12 (+1,12). The players made 5 eagles and 451 birdies and were really enjoying and appreciating the course.
